Alok Sharma Reading West MP reneged on the party’s repeated election promise to “protect the NHS” by voting down a cross-party amendment specifically designed to ensure that our cherished National Health Service was not on the table in any future post-Brexit trade deals.

Astoundingly, as of the time of publishing only few news outlest has decided to have covered the story – with the BBC, Sky News, ITV and numerous other mainstream media outlets appearing to decide that it was, for some reason, not newsworthy.

We all in Reading as well as politicians from all parties, including the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, have routinely clapped NHS workers for their heroic efforts during the Coronvirus crisis.

However, yesterday evening, virtually the entire Conservative Party chose to vote against a crucial amendment which would have protected our NHS and its staff from being up for negotiation in any future trade negotiations.

The amendment was so obviously in the public interest that six MPs from the hard-right DUP voted favour of it.
