Reading Borough Council pathetic 36.1% recycling rate performance

The council’s overall 36.1% recycling rate which is 240 in the list of 338 councils, although the council said the lack of progress was in line with other authorities

Reading Borough Council should be “ashamed” at the extent to which residents are recycling.

Glass collection was announced as a possible new addition to our recycling services at a Reading Borough Council (RBC) meeting back in January 2021 however as of today nothing has happened.

Just 12 per cent of local authorities in the UK do not collect glass, according to research by the charity Waste & Resources Action Programme, known as WRAP, Reading Borough Council is one of them.

Adele Foster a Beresford resident, said she could only describe the current rate of 36.1% of household waste being recycled as “pathetic”. She said: “The council authority should be ashamed of its performance.
