A member of staff mentioned last month that the disruption in garden waste collection is a result of staffing and recruitment problems.
Numerous residents in Reading are grappling with disrupted bin services, apparently a consequence of ongoing staffing and recruitment challenges faced by the council. .
The council’s lack of communication has ignited frustration among residents, who have accused the council of failing to fulfill their responsibilities while still charging £60+ supplement for this service. Many individuals have expressed their discontent across various social media platforms.
“reported this to the council, who only say it will be collected before the next scheduled date, but this also annoying as last time this was not true and by green bag was outside for 2 weeks ‘in case’ they decided to come. Really poor service.”
“Green bin prices have gone up again this year! I agree we had weeks of no collections at one point – no discounts or extensions to collections. When I raised this with the council they wouldn’t even give me a reference number for bothering to raise missing collections. Really unimpressed with attitudes – wouldn’t mind so much if it was a “free service” but not when I’m paying for it.”
“That’s councils all over, pay more to get less.”
Despite our attempts to reach out to the council, we have not received any response.
